What Does a Yellow/Orange Network Light Mean?

What a yellow or orange light means on your Compact Player and what to do next

Seeing a Yellow or Orange Network Light?

If the middle light on your Compact Player (the network light) is showing yellow or orange, it means the player is having trouble connecting to your network — but it’s trying.

This usually happens when:

  • The player isn’t getting a valid IP address from your network

  • The network setup changed recently (like a firewall or POS update)

  • The cable is connected, but the network isn’t allowing a full connection

What You Can Do

  1. Check the Ethernet cable

    • Make sure it’s securely plugged into both the player and the router/switch

    • Try swapping the cable or port if possible

  2. Restart your router and player

    • Power off your router for 10 seconds and restart it

    • Then unplug and restart your player

  3. Talk to your IT provider

    • Ask them to check the player’s connection

    • There may be a firewall setting or network rule blocking it
