Setting Up Custom Channels: Traditional Speakers, Bluetooth, Sonos, and Bluesound
Custom Channels is designed to fit seamlessly into your business’s sound system—whether you’re using a classic wired setup or modern wireless options like Sonos or Bluesound. Our music player uses a simple RCA wired connection for reliable, high-quality audio.
Traditional Wired Speaker Setup
For most businesses, a traditional wired speaker system is the simplest and most reliable way to get Custom Channels music into your space.
What you'll need:
-
An amplifier, powered speaker system, or mixer with an audio input (RCA)
-
An Ethernet internet connection (Wi-Fi is not supported)
-
An open power outlet
How it works:
-
Connect RCA audio cables from the AUDIO OUT on your Custom Channels player to the input on your amplifier or speaker system.
-
Plug the included Ethernet cable into your router or switch.
-
Power up the music player (Compact models turn on automatically; LCD models have a power button).
-
Select the correct input on your amp or speaker system.
Works with virtually any brand—Yamaha, Denon, Behringer, Bose, and more.
Result: High-quality, consistent playback with no reliance on Bluetooth, mobile apps, or wireless syncing.
Streaming Through Sonos or Bluesound (No Player Required)
If you're using a Sonos or Bluesound system in your business, you don't need a physical music player at all. Custom Channels streams directly through the Sonos or BluOS app.
How It Works:
-
We provide you with a Custom Channels login specific to your account and music station.
-
Use this login to add Custom Channels as a music source in the app.
-
Your Custom Channels channel plays directly through the app, using your existing speaker zones and configurations.
Advantages:
-
No hardware installation needed.
-
Full control through your existing app environment.
-
Works across zones in multi-room setups.
This is ideal for businesses already running Sonos or Bluesound as their primary audio system.
Bluetooth Speakers
While Bluetooth speakers are popular for personal use, they’re not a good match for professional business music environments—and Custom Channels music players do not support Bluetooth output.
Why Not Bluetooth?
-
Unreliable signal range
-
Interruptions from nearby devices
If your current setup only supports Bluetooth (e.g., portable speakers or consumer-grade products), we recommend upgrading to a wired system or Sonos/Bluesound setup for business-grade reliability.
